The incident took place not in Nagorno-Karabakh, but on the border between the two countries and with heavy weapons. This shows that the incident was not a border violation, but a direct attack on Azerbaijan, Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan said following the cabinet meeting, APA reports.

The Turkish President stressed that the attack exceeded the level of Armenia: "The aim is to prevent the process of resolving the Nagorno-Karabakh conflict with a provocative approach and to create new areas of conflict in the region. Turkey will never hesitate to stand up to any attack on the rights and lands of Azerbaijan, which has ancient ties of friendship and brotherhood.  It is disrespectful to its people for a country to launch such an attack as itself is unable to solve the health, infrastructure and widespread problems caused by political, economic and coronavirus pandemics on its soil."

Erdogan said he believed that tens of thousands of Armenians working in Turkey to support their families were also concerned about their country's irresponsible behavior: "We call on the countries of the region to take a principled and sincere stand against the aggressive and aggressive behavior of Armenia since the occupation of Nagorno-Karabakh. We will continue to stand by friendly and brotherly Azerbaijan with all our opportunities."
