The United Nations Secretary-General Antonio Guterres has hailed the talks the Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev and the Armenian President Serzh Sargsyan conducted in Geneva on October 16, spokesperson for the Secretary-General Stéphane Dujarric stated.

"The UN Secretary General supports the two Presidents' agreement to take additional steps to intensify the negotiation process and to reduce tensions on the contact line."

"Hailing the mediation efforts of the OSCE Minsk Group co-chairs, Antonio Guterres urges the sides to use positive dynamics emerged in the last meeting in order to achieve a peaceful settlement of the Nagorno-Karabakh conflict," spokesperson Dujarric added.
